Message from the President: Q3 2026
The Talent is Already There
One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing firsthand how our industry impacts the next generation.
Back in June, I attended the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center, where PIAG was recognized as a state-level supporter. During a special tour of the competition areas, I had the opportunity to meet students and educators and see the incredible talent on display in print production, graphic communications, and related fields.
Since the conference, PIAG has received several notes from student competitors thanking PIAG for its support. Their messages were a powerful reminder of why workforce development remains one of the association's most important priorities.
One student from West Hall High School shared that SkillsUSA was the highlight of her senior year. Through the Graphic Design Pin Design competition, she had the opportunity to see her design produced and exchanged with students from across the country before heading to Western Carolina University this fall.
Another student from Flowery Branch High School competed in Graphic Communications after gaining experience in her school's print shop and graphic design program. In her note, she described how the national conference allowed her to meet industry professionals, see the equipment used in commercial print operations, and further solidify her career plans. After high school, she intends to continue her education while pursuing employment in a local print shop and wants a long-term career in the industry.
At a time when workforce development remains a top concern for many PIAG members, these students represent more than future employees. They are future designers, press operators, production managers, sales professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. That is why PIAG continues to support educational partnerships and workforce development initiatives through the Educational Foundation.
After spending time with these students and reading their stories, I am more optimistic than ever. The future of our industry is already taking shape, and it is bright.
Sincerely,
Jon Krueger
