Printing & Imaging Industry Leader Jerry Scher
Receives 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award
Smyrna, GA -- The Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia (PIAG) has announced Mr. Jerry Scher, Co-Founder & Principal of Our Green Value, a Division of Peak Focus, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, as the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award recipient. The Benjamin Franklin Award is the highest honor bestowed in Georgia's printing and imaging industry.
The award recognizes Mr. Scher as a major contributor to the graphic arts industry in Georgia for more than thirty years and was bestowed in recognition of the level of commitment and excellence he has shown to his family, business, industry and community. Jerry Scher was nominated for the Benjamin Franklin Award by his peers and selected by the Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia's Benjamin Franklin Nomination Committee.
About Mr. Jerry Scher, 2010 Benjamin Franklin Award Recipient
Jerry's known by many names -- business builder, executive, trainer, sales professional, facilitator, coach, mentor. Regardless of the title, the end result is the same -- making people around him significantly more successful. His ability to diagnose business issues and effectively communicate appropriate solutions, that can be acted upon quickly, truly differentiates him. A frequent speaker for C-level conferences across several industries, Jerry continues to receive excellent reviews as a speaker and trainer for providing concise and relevant content while motivating his audiences to actually change their behavior. As an author, Jerry has shared his expertise in areas including sales management, strategic planning, business building, the sales process, effective communication and building sales organizations.
Jerry's frequently ahead of the curve. Beginning in the late 80's, Jerry spent years designing products, services, sales and marketing initiatives as well as training programs focused on proactive environmental strategies within the printing and imaging industry. These initiatives incorporated pollution prevention, waste minimization technologies, manufacturing process improvements (lean manufacturing), supply chain optimization and the development of environmentally friendly alternative raw materials. (Funny how so many of these topics are considered in some circles as "new and hot" now.)
From the early 1990's on, Jerry has been publishing articles and speaking about "green" issues. People around him greatly benefit from his ability to simplify the complex, ask the right questions and assist in designing the most appropriate solutions.
Jerry served as a PIAG Board member for many years and as Chairman of PIAG's Educational Foundation. He has been a speaker at numerous industry conferences and facilitates Strategic Planning Programs for many PIA affiliates. Jerry has provided sales training programs to dozens of printing companies throughout the US and has assisted hundreds of professional sales people improve their sales effectiveness.
About PIAG's Benjamin Franklin Award
Since 1958, the Benjamin Franklin Award has been bestowed to recognize an industry leader for their long-term contribution to Georgia's printing and imaging industry, according to the following criteria:
• Success in his or her chosen profession
• A person of high principles and integrity
• A person who shares time and talent to work toward the advancement of the printing industry
• A person who works for the betterment of society through civic, community, or religious involvements
• At least 15 years in the printing and imaging industry, with at least five of those years in Georgia
Nominations are first open to the entire PIAG membership, and then narrowed down to the recipient by the Benjamin Franklin Nomination Committee. PIAG presents the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award each year at the Celebration of Print Gala.
