Ink In Their Veins: Summer Issue of Georgia Printer Profiles
Family and Business in The Printing and Imaging Industry
SMYRNA, Ga. -- Georgia's printing and imaging industry is marked by a large number of companies that have made family values and tradition a way of doing business. To raise awareness about Georgia's rich history of family and business in print, the summer issue of Georgia Printer, published by The Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia (PIAG), focuses on four family-owned printing businesses. The featured companies represent over 216 years in the printing business. They are: Collins Digital Imaging of Atlanta, Standard Press, Inc. of Atlanta, Tucker-Castleberry of Atlanta, and McStatts' Printing of Cartersville. Georgia Printer also spoke to its readers in an online survey prior to publication, and featured many of their responses in the feature article Ink In Their Veins.
"There is an old joke within our industry that if you cut a printer they'll bleed Pantone 186, the ink that best represents a deep red," says Ashley Lenz, PIAG Marketing & Communications Manager. "This joke is indicative of the long history most printers have with the industry through either growing up in print shops or working alongside their family members in a family-owned business. Throughout 2009, Georgia Printer is focusing on putting a 'face' on the printing and imaging industry, so we knew we had to tell this story."
Printed copies of the summer issue of Georgia Printer are available upon request at PIAG by emailing info@piag.org or calling 800.288.1894, and electronic copies are downloadable at www.georgiaprinteronline.com.
