Sample Advertising Design Exam
The purpose of the advertising design sample exam is to serve as a practice mechanism for the regional competition. The exam will help prepare the competitor of similar expectations. Using design layout skills, the competitor is require to develop a concept and design a one-page ad layout. Before you design the ad, research--think about who is your client and who is the audience. (i.e., what lifestyle does your audience live?) Think about the product or service the ad must be featured in your ad. What are the visual elements that will illustrate the product or service in the best possible way. Competitors will be judged on the ads concept, visual story, correct use of grammar, compelling imagery, headline, and craftsmanship of the ad.

Summary Our agency has recently been awarded a contract to design and develop a one-page ad design. The client is Nike. Nike is releasing the new Nike Air Jordan on March 23, 2008. Nike wants us to design an ad targeted to the teen audience--male and females. Nike wants us to push the idea of teens soaring high and in flight.

Ad requirements The actual size of the ad is 9" x 12". The final ad must be exported as a print quality PDF. You can only use a maximum of two typefaces (fonts) in your ad. The ad must have at least one image whether it is a photograph or illustration. (Clip art is not acceptable.) The ad must be designed in color. The ad must be created in Adobe InDesign. The must have at least a one sentence body copy. The ad must have a call to action, (i.e., 800 number or website, www.nike.com). The ad must contain the client's logo.
Required Visual Assets We have provided assets, which have to be used in the ad. The ad is automatically disqualified if these assets are not used in the ad.
